NFL Futures Watch Part 2
14 Oct 2008
To say I’m addicted to future sports bets would be just a little bit of an understatement. All of my old futures still stand, these are just additions.
Today was the first day I had checked my outstanding future offers since Friday. I was ecstatic when I saw this next bet got matched. I’m 99% sure someone matched these during the Detroit/MN game, while Vinny Ciurciu was starting at middle linebacker and it looked like the Vikes were going to lose the game.
Detroit Under 6.5 Regular Season Wins at +145 (2x to win 2.9x)
Who the fuck was dumb enough to match this? Even if you would have beat MN, the chances of Detoit going over would have been beyond small. Now they have to finish 7-4 the rest of the year, with Dan Idiot Orlovsky (please click on his name if you haven’t seen this lowlight yet) at Quarterback. I now stand to win 12.9 units if Detroit fails to get 7 wins.
Vikings to win the NFC Championship at 25-1 (2x to win 50x)
Vikings to win the Super Bowl at 50.25-1 (2x to win 100.5x)
Finally, one of my homer bets got matched. The MN Vikings are the only team I am okay with throwing away money on. Fortunately I’ve passed on them twice this year (in Green Bay and last week against Detroit) and am 2-2 on the season betting on them and actually up 4 units. Hence, why I’m essentially throwing these 4 units away. I really don’t think this bet has much of a chance, it’s just value on my favorite team and I could sell both of them right now for profit.
New Orleans to win the Super Bowl at 40-1 (.5x to win 20x)
This bet was placed after their Denver loss and I expected them to win their next three games. They ended up losing to the Vikes and going 2-1 over that stretch. They are trading at around the same price most places right now, so this bet really doesn’t have much value.
Seattle to win NFC Championship at 80-1 (.096x to win 7.68x)
This one got matched three weeks ago, when they were sitting around 40-1 most places. In my defense, this was after their 0-2 start (and before they were playing St. Louis) and also before I realized that they were going to suck donkey dick for the rest of the year. This is dead money.
Oh yeah, and one little baseball future got matched as well.
Johan Santana to win NL Cy Young at 25-1 (.1x to win 5x)
I know he is not the favorite. But, value is value.

Please Lord
6 Oct 2008
Do me a favor and win me these bets. I’ve been excited like a kid in a candy store all day awaiting this game. Here are my bets for tonight.
MN +2.5 (+138) to win 4.25x
MN +3 (-106) to win 6x
I got just under there ML odds on the +2.5 by acting quickly win the new line was released. Was planning on selling it back, but never got much lower that -118 for New Orleans, so I decided to just keep it all out there. There is no way I would be this heavily involved if yesterday hadn’t happened. I’m writing an article about this later this week once I figure out the words that described my emotions yesterday.
P.S. One more favor lord, please don’t let E.J.’s absence hurt us as much as I’m worried about.
