Lil Wayne is writing for ESPN.  I’m fascinated by the fact that he says he only watches sports.  He needs to get into reality T.V., it’s a solid runner up to sports.  Not that great of an article.  I just like getting immersed in everything that someone does who provides me enjoyment.  Looks like he will be writing a couple times a month for them.

I Got Game Like E.A.

The new Lil Wayne album is ridiculously good.  It sold one million copies its first week.  The first album since 2005 to do so.  The article above had a hilarious synopsis of Lil Wayne, “He evolved from a child star into a dreadlocked street urchin spouting increasingly intricate, at times otherworldly rhymes. His raspy bullfrog of a voice has become one of pop music’s most recognizable, embracing possibilities that suggest a cartoon, an alien, a troll who lives under a bridge, and a bong-hugging surrealist.”  They called him an urchin and a bullfrog within two sentences, now that’s impressive.  I’ve been a fan of Lil Wayne since I was in middle school when “Tha Block Is Hot” was semi popular.  Now he has morphed into a bonafide superstar.

The album also has my current favorite song on it and no it’s not Lollipop (as awesome as that song is).  In this song ‘Comfortable’ one of his lines actually made me laugh, “i got game like E.A.”  Every guy in the world has heard that damn, “E.A. Sports, it’s in the game” slogan a million times in their life and Lil Wayne actually made it flow into a song.  The song features Babyface who hasn’t had a hit in something like 12 years.  But the song sounds like something off of a Baby Bash album but with Lil Wayne rapping to it.  It was also produced by Kanye, which probably explains why it is so catchy.  I can’t get enough of it and it’s the perfect summer song.  I really hope this is his next single, it would be huge.  Here are the lyrics:

BabyFace // Hook
im not saying this to shake you up
im just saying this to wake you up
its all good when we making love
all i ask is dont take our love
for granted, its granted
my love for you, is real
baby if you dont love me
somebody else will, so baby girl
dont you ever get too comfortable

Lil Wayne // Verse 1
yeah to the left to the left
if you wanna leave be my guest, you can step
feeling irreplacable listen to beyonce
but ok ill put you out on your bday
now if you rocking with weezay
bedroom in the bank, baby we safe
i got game like E.A.
but i wanna let you play
and dont i treat you like suflai
dont i look at you like a i see a new day
and dont i do ,what i do say
im threw talking so imma let you, face

BabyFace // Hook
im not saying this to (and let yay do yay) shake you up
im just saying this to wake you up
its all good when we making love
all i ask is dont take our love
for granted, its granted
my love for you, is real
if you dont love me
somebody else will, so baby girl
dont you ever get too comfortable

Lil Wayne // Verse 2
yeah let me catch my breath
you talking bout leave baby you aint gone yet
and if you leave, leave correct
and imma send a jet to pick up the next
and if you leave, your leaving the best
so you would have to settle for less
i am no elliot ness, i don’t handcuff i dont arrest
i do confess to the virginsy
cause under them sheets i am a mess
yes, baby you blessed
not chess dont jump ya ness

BabyFace // Hook
im not saying this to shake you up
im just saying this to wake you up
its all good when we making love
all i ask is dont take our love
for granted, its granted
my love for you, is real
if you dont love me
somebody else will, so baby girl
dont you ever get too comfortable

Lil Wayne // Verse 3
yeah, it’s no sweat no sweat
i will never 1, 2, 3 4-get
about you, your love, your sex
you know i work you out like bowflex
our jokes. no stress. love.
live life. proceed. progress.
make sure the neighbors get no rest
we can get together, never disconnect
your back, your neck
funny how that song hasen’t got old yet - to us.
so let’s project, you stay in
never in - correkt
FACE!

BabyFace // Hook
im not saying this to shake you up
im just saying this to wake you up
its all good when we making love
all i ask is dont take our love
for granted, its granted
my love for you, is real
if you dont love me
somebody else will, so baby girl
dont you ever get too comfortable

Glow In The Dark Tour

Not only did D, my sister, my sister’s friend and I see an amazing concert but we got a sweet deal on the seats as well.  I got four seats for $240 (Section 106 row 2, literally on the floor), that were $600 total in face value.  I’m a craigslist machine when it comes to landing tickets at good values.  We will see how good these skills are in six weeks when UFC 87 takes place in Minneapolis and the tickets are running about 650 bucks a pop for lower level.  Sadly I might pay close to that because the card is that ridiculous.  As for the acts at the Glow In The Dark concert:

Lupe - We unfortunately missed him since we were focusing all of our efforts on finishing off one particular bottle of liquor.  I heard from people there and through reviews that he was pretty good.  Lousy drinking always getting in my way.

N.E.R.D. - Ten times better than I expected.  I always thought they were underrated and this just confirmed my theories.  Pharrell is the man.  A top 10 live performance for me.  One day I will have to make a top ten list of my favorite acts live.

Rihanna - Average Period  I honestly like her music, but watching it live was worse.  The bass was turned up 18 decibals too high and I noticed this while I was hammered.  Thankfully I can just stare at her the whole time and imagine fucking her in 18 different positions.

Kanye - Amazing.  Slides into my #2 live spot behind Eminem.  His stage presence was undeniable.  He carried an hour plus act on stage by himself with his band underneath the stage.  He had an interesting gimmic to his routine as well.  It was as if he was on a space ship touring the universe and he continually spoke to Jane (the machine) throughout the entire performance.  Quite difficicult to explain actually, especially the part where Jane morphs into this super sexy animated robot.  So instead of contiuing to explain, I’ll let this youtube video handle it.  For the record I wasn’t the only one impressed with Kanye, check out Diddy’s reaction.

Star Party 08 Summary

Over the past few weeks I’ve seen two solid to great concerts. The first one was Star Party (the solid one) a few weeks back. I went with PussyDabbler, Wife and D. The four of us drank in the car outside the venue before the concert doing our best impersonations of our 17 year old versions of ourselves (Read: passing a water bottle around inside a car praying cops don’t see you). When walking into the concert we walked by a group of Emo kids playing frisbee in the parking lot. We all gave each other the look and one of us says, “well there’s the Simple Plan fans.” Turns out a few hours into the concert Simple Plan gets on stage and what do you know, those weren’t the fans in the parking lot, that was the fucking band just hanging out in the parking lot.

Maroon 5 - Better than expected. Pretty solid live. I must have been drunk when they performed, don’t remember them much.

Danity Kane - Hands down the best of the bunch. Aubrey looks so dirty and hot in person, I would do bad things to her. This group also had the best stage presence of the night.

Colbie Callait - She was a lot thicker than I expected. She is not a small girl. She must have god given blowjob talents to move up the company ladder and into mainstream music.

Sean Kingston - He was the final act, which in any concert I’ve ever been to means the person is the headliner. But, he was a fucking joke. Lipsinked the whole time, no stage presence and his songs actually sounded worse in person. Immense disappointment and I was hammered at this point.

Simple Plan - All I could think about was how ridiculous they looked playing frisbee beforehand.

Gavin DeGraw - Drinking.

Ray J - Surprisingly the second best act of the night behind Danity Kane. I wasn’t expecting much, but he kicked off the night quite nicely.

All in all Danity Kane might crack my top 15 acts I’ve seen live, while Ray J and Maroon 5 are the only others from this crop worth seeing.

The night ended with Wife and PussyDabbler getting into a spitting contest. Yeah, no fucking joke they were spitting on each other in the bar, that clearly meant it was time to leave. I must say if you would have told me before the night I would have seen a band playing frisbee and my friends spitting on each other, I would have told you I would have a great night without even going to a concert.

On Monday I’ll have the Kanye West concert review up.

Star Party 2008

PussyDabbler, Wife, D and myself (and maybe EvilFather) are going to Star Party tonight.  I’m so fucking stoked for it, it’s unbelievable.  D won the tickets through the radio, but I would have paid whatever for these tickets.  The best part about Star Party is it is held at Myth nightclub (just looking at the pictures on their main page gives me the chills), a venue that holds only a couple thousand people.  Last year when I went I was literally 10 feet away from many of the acts.  Not to mention it really is a bar, and there are waitresses walking around everywhere but the main stage area.  Last year I blacked out a few of the acts but remember it being my second favorite concert of my life.  Nothing beats seeing Eminem live.

The lineup for tonight is as follows:

Maroon 5 – Everyone loves them.  I think they are decent, but they are the biggest name in this year’s group.

Danity Kane – I fucking love them.  Hell, I’ve written several blogs just about their show.  Who knows, maybe they’ll bring Day 26 with them.  I can’t wait to see how hot Aubrey is in person.

Colbie Callait – I’ll black this one out.

Sean Kingston – Love his sound and many of his songs, I’m interested to see how good he is live.

Simple Plan – I like their older stuff and have never seen a halfway decent punk band live.

Gavin Degraw – Black Out again.

Ray J – ‘Sexy Can I.’  That song is ridiculously addicting.  Hopefully he’s the first act because other than that, he only has some halfway decent old songs to his name.

Can’t Wait Until Tonight
